Hey all,
Boy, these last few months have been hectic. I can't believe it!
Lemme 'splain.
So last August I started working at a cupcake shop. I enjoy it, most of the time, when customers aren't being stupid. (But unfortunately that happens far too often.) Anyway, this is the first time I've had a job since I started working on "Work In Progress." I'm having a little trouble balancing my free time after work so as to get enough time to work on it. I'm so often so very tired that I fall asleep within an hour after getting home. Then I have to get up and make dinner and stuff, so it doesn't leave me a lot of time for drawing.
Then I started experimenting with baking. I decided to turn the gingerbread cookies I make every Christmas into cupcakes. Took a few attempts, but I think I finally got the recipe right. Then of course I had to do my Christmas shopping, and make extra batches of cookies and cupcakes to give as gifts, and somewhere in there I found the time to attempt to make a statue of my shop's mascot. I don't know how I managed that, honestly. I'll have to post pics - it came out decent.
Anyway, I've gotten a mild interest in attempting more cupcake recipes, so I'm going to have to find time for that, too. But I'm still always so tired that I never want to do anything. I'm itching to draw again, though, so that's the next thing on my list. I promise!
Besides that, my interest in Sherlock Holmes has been reawakened, thanks to the latest movie. I was reading the books when the first one came out a few years ago, and I was not interested after seeing the commercials for it. "That's not MY Sherlock," I said. (Apparently I hadn't read enough of the books yet to know that it wasn't too far off.) When the DVD came out, we rented it anyway, and I decided it wasn't too bad. Then for some reason I stopped reading the books, too, only making it through "A Study in Scarlet" and "The Sign of Four". My interest waned, for the time being.
Then "A Game of Shadows" came out, and I was interested enough to give it another try. I absolutely loved it! This time, it really felt to me like they captured his character, and made the movie a lot of fun. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie that held my attention that well, and actually made me hope they make another one. LOVED it. Even went and bought both soundtracks on iTunes. (Hans Zimmer is the BEST.)
The only problem was that I felt like I was coming in halfway into a story, having forgotten almost completely what the first one was about. So we bought the disc and watched it again. Now, of course, I want to see the second one. Again.
And I've also gone back to reading the books, even re-reading through the ones I already read. I'm loving them so much, I just can't get enough. At the moment my Nook tablet is charging (it was this year's Christmas gift) so for right now I can't read my books!
(Well, I could, if I want to sit by an outlet while it charges, which I don't.)
So bottom line, I'm trying to get things back in order, I really am. I have no intention of dropping WiP. Just think of it as a little break. I took one - a LONG one - once before, after my dad passed away. But I didn't have any fans yet, as I hadn't posted any of it online at that time, so no one knew about it. I did return to it, and I promise I will again. I do work on it here and there when I have time, it's just never enough time to get a decent amount done. Hopefully I'll be posting pages again very soon. I'm so sorry, but very thankful that you've hung in there with me. Thanks for all the support, guys!
I guess that's about it for the update then. Oh, and Stewie is doing just fine. His one-year compilation video is moving far too slowly as well... -_-
